Duct Tape Removes Killer Bee Stingers
A woman who survived an attack by a swarm of killer bees says she thought she was going to die.
Toha Bergerub, 77, was stung more than 500 times after she swatted a bee that got caught in her wig. She was only rescued when paramedics near her Las Vegas home threw water over her to scare the bees away.
Toha says: "I felt pain, real pain, there was too much. But no one could help me. No one could do anything.
"The cars went by but no one stopped. They were afraid of the bees." Hospital personnel used tweezers and duct tape to pull the stingers from her body. - source: ananova

Duct Tape Ribbon Cutting
When it came time for The University of Michigan College of Engineering to dedicate a new building for student design projects, Duct Tape was the obvious choice for the ribbon cutting ceremony. "There are some things that all engineers hold dear, and one of these things is duct tape," said Dean Stephen Director (third from left) as he snipped the ceremonial tape. The sturdy silver stuff is an essential ingredient for the solar-powered car, human-powered helicopter, and mini-formula race car that students will be working on in the new Walter E. Cosmopolitan Magazine Recommends Duct Tape
The September, 1999 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine recommends using duct tape if you can't wear a bra with your outfit. They also demonstrated this in October on Oprah! - Jim and Tim wonder why they weren’t called into assist. By the way... This is a hint that appeared in the first Duct Tape Book, and again in Duct Tape Book Two—Real Stories with an unsolicited testimonial from the Miss American Beauty Queen Pageant Director testifying to the same use.

(No, this story does not go with the photo on the left, although George did say that he never felt that kind of support before.)

Ever feel like doing this to your principal?
Principal Raises Money with Duct Tape
(above) Dallastown, PA High School principal George Jones found himself duct taped to a cafeteria. Strips of duct tape were sold to raise money for the Dallastown Area Dollars for Scholars. George found students quite willing to part with some dough for some duct tape. Great idea George! (AP photo)

...Another Raises Reading with Duct Tape Not to be outdone, Mark Buck, Principal of the Medicine Lodge Middle School gave the students at his school an extra incentive to read. They had to read over 400,000 pages to reach their goal. For each 1,000 pages read, the student would receive 1 meter long piece of duct tape to tape hiim to the wall.

It is obvious that education would be nowhere without duct tape in the curriculum. (By the way, get your Duct Tape Guy’s Creative Thinking Curriculum FREE by clicking here.)

Neshannock High School in NewCastle, PA celebrates Friendship and Duct Tape every March 5th.

It all started in 1996 when a Neshannock coed gave a friend a 365 Days of Duct Tape Calendar for Christmas (great idea). On March 5th, the friend handed her a roll of duct tape and the calendar page proclaiming it was "National Share Duct Tape with a Friend Day." The delighted recipient ripped off a strip of the duct tape and wrapped it around her friend’s arm. "It started as a joke," reports Dawn. "Soon the whole school was doing it. It’s kind of a cheesy heartwarming experience, that has now become a tradition at the school."

LEFT: On the lunar surface in December 1972, Apollo 17 astronauts Harrison Schmitt and Eugene Cernan needed to repair one of their lunar rover's fenders in an effort to keep the "rooster tails" of dust away from themselves and their gear. This picture reveals the wheel and fender of their dust covered rover along with the ingenious application of spare maps, clamps, and grey strip of "duct tape".

Duct Tape Knows No Rival - Even in Space
The average American has a lot in common with the astronauts - they, too, rely on duct tape in a jam. According to Ohio-based Manco ... which makes Duck® (brand) Tape ... astronaut and former senator John Glenn sang the praises of duct tape in a recent speech. Glenn told the audience he didn't know "if we could conduct a (space) mission without duct tape." He said it’s used by astronauts to defy the effects of gravity ...allowing them to post mission notes and even eat a meal on the space shuttle.

Other astronauts agree. In 1997, Jerry Linenger spent 132 days aboard the Mir (meer) space station ...during which he and his fellow cosmonauts faced numerous life-threatening events, including systems failures and collisions. Linenger says duct tape was used on Mir for repairs as well as for gravity defiance. He has said that his Russian counterpart told him - "The best thing you ever brought on board was duct tape."

You can also witness Duct Tape saving the day in the Apollo 13 movie where it was used to convert a CO2 filter from the command module to the LEM - which prevented the astronauts from dying from their own exhalation during their journey home.

Minnesota’s Governor Pumps Up The Duct Tape Guys’ Hopes of a Presidential Bid
Jesse Ventura, Minnesota’s Governor Elect has paved the way for Jim and Tim, Duct Tape Guys’ presidential campaign. Since Venura’s shocking election, Jim and Tim have received numerous e-mail notes encouraging them to go full speed ahead towards the office of President of the United States. Figuring that if a former pro wrestler and B-movie actor can govern a state, they, as duct tape pros, are certainly more than qualified to govern a country.

Duct Tape Frames Virgin Image
A US apartment complex has become a shrine after the Virgin of Guadalupe apparently revealed herself in a stain of melted ice cream.

Hundreds of onlookers from all over America have made their way to the stain in Houston, Texas, armed with rosaries and cameras, believing the image is that of their Mexican idol.

To preserve the image, which is fast disintegrating, a sheet of glass has been placed over it and a makeshift frame made using duct tape. -source: ananova

How DUCT TAPE Can Restore the Clinton Presidency
"A Little bit of duct tape, widely used, can help save the Clinton presidency." --- Tim, the Duct Tape Guy
To that end, The Duct Tape Guys have come up with these ideas to help restore the Clinton Presidency:

  • Duct tape the presidential briefs on.
  • Restore credibility by speaking about the virtues of duct tape.
  • Duct tape Bill to Hillary’s leg for the rest of his term.
  • Restore the dignity of the oval office by installing duct tape wallpaper borders.
  • A strip of duct tape across the First Mouth puts an end to presidential perjury.
  • Put an end to terrorism by restraining terrorists with duct tape and forcing them to listen to Bill’s grand jury testimony.
  • Fix the deficit by repairing stuff with duct tape instead of buying new at those inflated Pentagon prices.
  • Duct tape chastity belt required on all interns.
  • Cover Monica’s gift tie with duct tape as a symbol of putting it all behind.
  • Concentrate on matters at hand by wearing duct tape blinders.
  • Remember, duct tape means never having to say you are sorry. Which is perfect for Bill, since he seems to have trouble saying that he’s sorry.

  • The DUCT TAPE GUYS Become the Fifth Spice Girl! Jim and Tim, the Duct Tape Guys just announced that they will replace Ginger Spice who left the group in May. The guys will be known as “Duct Spice.” They are shown here with (from left to right) Sporty, Baby, Scary, and Posh.

Duct Tape No Good On Ducts
So states Max Sherman of the Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, in California. The laboratory conducted test of duct tape and other duct sealants such as aerosol sealants and foil tape, and duct tape held up the worst to alternating hot and cold air. Eventually the duct tape leaked about 10% of the airflow through its ducts.

When asked to comment on this report, Jim and Tim, the Duct Tape Guys, responded, "We never used duct tape on duct work. We hear that it’s been done...but no, we never used it on ducts."

Jim continued, "If it’s not any good on duct work, I suppose it’s a good thing we published three (now six, 2004) books of other uses for duct tape then." The report appeared in the July 27th issue of USA Today.

We contacted the Lab responsible for this test with the following comment: "Your study was flawed for two reasons: How much duct tape did you use? And, what KIND of Duct Tape did you use? Remember - spoil the duct tape and spoil the job."
To which an employee replied, "Well, on a government budget, one can only buy so much duct tape."
