This is photography from my home, Door County, Wisconsin. This beautiful area of Wisconsin is often referred to as "the New England of the Midwest." Door County is the peninsula that juts out into Lake Michigan just north of Green Bay. Sturgeon Bay, the largest city (with just over 9,000 residents) is also home to shipyards and the largest crane on the Great Lakes. Many large ore boats come here for repairs in the winter. Sturgeon Bay also produces some of the world's most luxurious (and most expensive) yachts. Traveling up the peninsula brings you to rolling farm lands, orchards, rocky cliffs, sand dunes, forests, and quaint little villages tucked around picturesque bays. |
