Hey, all you hep cats and kitties who dig on the roll - time to put on your duct taped beret and dark glasses, light up a clove cigarette and pen your best poem about the ubiquitous tape that holds the universe together.

Random entries will recieve a bumper sticker, pin, or book, and the best of the lot will appear in our
books and 365 Days of Duct Tape Calendars. Read our submissions page to get more specific information
about releasing your creations to us. You can use any form of poetry you wish (haiku, cinquain, free form, even limerick). Need help rhyming? check out http://rhyme.poetry.com Or, try the cinquain builder.
The only rule is: your poem must be family friendly (
nothing blue - even if it's a limerick - X-rated, we toss out).

One clever new use for this tape

Apply a small strip
To each rupture or rip
And your vineyard will be in great shape.
- R. S. Gwynn

Of duct tape, here is one that produces
More weight loss than a diet

Take a chicken that's partially plucked,
Wrap it tightly, then rip
Feathers off with each strip.
Use the rest on a troublesome duct.

That was in a circular shape.

So well that all people would gape

We hesitate to introduce Jim's poetry on this page, but, at the risk of making him feel bad...
Jim's Duct Tape Nursery Rhymes

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet
Duct taping her broken purse
Along came a spider
Who sat down beside her
And said, "Hey Muffet, nice job on that purse!"

Jack Sprat could not stop duct taping stuff.
His wife could not stop either.
And so betwixt the two of them,
They repaired all the broken stuff in their whole house.

Mary Mary quite contrary
How does your garden grow
With silver bells and cockle shells
And duct tape holding the tomato plants up nicely to their stakes all in a row.

Sing a song of duct tape
Garages full of broken stuff
Four and twenty rolls of duct tape
That should be enough

Wen the tape was sealed tight
The guy began to sing
He saved a ton of money
So he felt just like a king.

Little Jack Horner
Sat in the corner
Fixing his broken tam
He taped on the tassel
Without any hassle
And said oh what a good boy I am

Little boy blue
Come blow your horn
The sheep's in the meadow
The cow's in the corn
And the rest of the animals are nowhere to be seen. We have no idea where they are.
Where is the boy who looks after the sheep.
He's in the garage duct taping the rusted fender back on his Jeep.

Just rip it and grin

Its tale's told by all
Its time will never pass
The writing's on the wall

So sing its praises loudly
Shout it out by name

Freeform:

Duct Tape
The material of infinite possibility
Another patch on the world

Something for everyone
An improvement on the Standard Model

We used the entire roll
But the bosons still leak through

The first layer is the key
The rest are only decoration.

Never take duct tape to the zoo
If I can't do it neither can you
It's not my fault the monkeys took it
Who'd have thought of the places they put it
Duct tape sticks and duct tape binds
Still, those monkeys seemed to have a good time
The zookeeper put my duct tape in a sack
And told me rudely, "Never come back!"
- Sandy Jablonski

O marvellous tape for a troublesome duct,
The colour of oysters recently shucked,
I knew when I found you at last I had lucked
Into a winner. Now I could construct
All the things that my brain from the air could have plucked.
This verse-making lark has been fun. Now I've chucked
Every rhyme I can think of (many that sucked)
At your innocent syllables, dreadfully mucked
Up the rhythm, and I should be tucked
Into bed before I offend anyone.
- Mary McLean, London, UK

Acrostic Poems

Down on my luck
Until the tape found me
Can't imagine my life without the gray around me.
Taped up my old suitcase
Taped up my car
Aimed to the west and drove pretty far.
Patched my whole sad life
Even my heart.
Duct tape saved me...I got a new start.
- Julie Nyberg

Duct tape
Useful for any repair
Cleans lint off of clothes
Tear it by hand
Tougher than tough
Able to tow cars
Pretty in neon pink
Everyone needs a roll
